I really like zumba.  A lot.  I used to think I was terrible at it, but the more I go, the more I can focus on getting a good workout rather than figuring out the moves.  I've gotten to the point where I make up zumba routines in my head to random songs during the day!  Yes, I'm quite silly, and I love it :)  If you've ever contemplated going to a zumba class, you should definitely do it!

Just a little video so you can see a few of my favorite moves! Make sure you watch the guy in the front!

I follow the blog of a lady who lives in Switzerland, and she was inspired to blog 31 days in a row (the entire month of October) about a common theme.  I'm thinking about doing the same thing, but I have yet to think of a theme.  Stay tuned and have a fantastic Friday!

I have been in an anti-blogging mood lately. Mostly because I've been exhausted for the last couple of weeks.  Usually I just need one day of doing nothing to recover after working 3 days in a row, but last week it took me the full 4.  This week, I worked 4 in a row and boy am I feeling it!  It's amazing how I can feel so energized at work, but the moment I let down, my body rebels and won't let me do anything.  Needless to say, I've spent lots of time watching movies, listening to music, pinning pictures, and taking naps.  I hope I can get into a more solid routine soon!

Last weekend, I decided that in spite of working every day, I was going to do something fun every night of the weekend.  I went out for dinner and to a movie with Josiah and the guys on Friday, which was so fun! My friend Bethany and I went to the ballet Saturday night to see "The Merry Widow" - we had a blast!  I'm pretty sure I sat in the only crooked chair in the entire Performing Arts Center, so we of course had a great laugh as I watched the ballet at a slant.  I tried to read the little booklet thing that explained the story line, since nobody talks in the ballet.  Just dancing, of course.  Well, it became obvious during the first scene that I had absolutely no idea what was taking place in front of me.  The first two scenes were spent whispering to Bethany, who would explain the plot.  By the second act, I was too tired to care anymore and just sat back to enjoy the confusion.  Thankfully, I had figured it all out by the end!  Afterwards, Bethany and I went to our favorite coffee shop to listen to the music of Mark Gibson, and independent singer/songwriter.  Chai lattes were the perfect way to end such a fun night!  By Sunday night, I was so exhausted that I went to bed at 7:30!

Tonight, I had the privilege of chauffeuring a missionary couple who came to speak at our church from the airport to Siloam Springs. I had a wonderful time listening to the wife's stories of life as a wife/mother/nurse on the mission field in Africa.  The more she talked, the more excited I became, since that's the life I hope to have some day! Tonight was truly a divine appointment. God is so good :)

Today it feels like fall!  My window is still open a crack even though it's chilly outside, only so I get to snuggle under my comforter :)  This week has been one of impatience and frustration on my part, due to the fact that I'm back to not knowing what to do with myself on my days off.  Since I work weekends now, that leaves the entire week open - days that normal people don't have off.  The ever-present question is: "what am I to do with all this time?!"  Yesterday morning was spent unpacking and organizing my room, which included putting up all of my picture frames.  Next week I will begin working on painting my furniture.  That will take a lot of time, so hopefully next week I will feel less bored!

I've discovered that the majority of my frustration on my days off stems from the feeling of unproductivity (new word) and the feeling that I'm not doing anything that matters.  I constantly struggle with discontentment, rushing from one minute to the next hoping that life will get more exciting.  The whisper of my precious Jesus continues to find its way into my heart amidst the chaos: "Be still."  Finally, after years of fighting stillness for fear of becoming lazy, I have chosen to explore and accept the rest and peace of the Lord.  He is teaching me to be patient and to not look to the next minute but to instead find joy in simply living in the moment.  My identity and worth does not come from how much I accomplish in a day or how many things are on my calendar.  My identity is found in Him, an identity only fully developed when I truly seek Him with all of my being.  Matthew 6:33 has always been one of my favorite verses: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."  All of the answers to all of the questions in life may be found by simply seeking the One who has the answers.  So I choose to seek Him, to be still, and to find joy in the simplicity of being His treasure.

Tonight is the Greek festival in downtown Tulsa.  I'm so excited!  I went with my parents last year and it was one of the highlights of my fall.  I'm very much looking forward to the food! Yum, yum, yum!  We're going with some friends who live downtown, so we'll park at their apartment and walk to the Greek Orthodox church where the festival is held.  We're going in time for the dancing this year, which should be an interesting adventure.  The thought of Mom and Dad Greek dancing (whatever that looks like) just makes me smile.  I can't wait!

We're moved! Finally. And I'm exhausted.  Thankfully, I'm off work for the next 4 days and can focus on relaxing! And unpacking. Lots of unpacking.  The only things I care about finding right now among the pile of boxes in the garage are the boxes that contain my picture frames.  My room just won't feel like home until I get those up.  I'm planning on painting my bedroom furniture at some point this week as well, a project for which I recruited my brother Ben.  He is thrilled, to say the least.  It should be a good time!

This week starts my first full week of my new work schedule: Saturday, Sunday, Monday 7a-7p.  I am looking forward to zumba-ing more!  But I also decided today that I need to do more than zumba.  Running is sounding like a good idea (though my legs are hurting at the thought), so I may start tomorrow.  We'll see how far I get...

I am currently at the mall janking their internet due to the fact that we do not yet have internet in the new house.  Yes, I am a fan of loitering :)

Third Day in a Row!

Today is my third day in a row to post!  Odd, I know.  Why the sudden change in blogging habits?  It's simple: the temperature outside has been less than 90 degrees several days in a row.  Plus, I almost had to wear a sweater to work this morning.  Oh, happy day!

I've been trying to think of something to spice up my blog.  I'm thinking about posting a picture every day - one that sort of sums up the day for me.  Just something that keeps all my readers on their toes and doesn't lead to boredom!  So, we'll see.

I was reminded by a comment on my last post that I have yet to even begin sewing my t-shirt quilt.  Oops.  Honestly, I've been putting off starting any large project until after the move Saturday.  I did, however, pack all of my t-shirts for the quilt together in one place.  That's a start, no?

After work today, I felt like dancing.  Not because work was more fabulous than usual, but because for once I didn't start sweating the moment I stepped outside!  Oh September, how I love thee this year :)

It's Fall!

Moving.  Ugh.  My family is moving to a new location in the same city and I can't wait for it to be over!  My room is finished, as is the medicine cabinet.  Because it was my job to pack it.  Because I'm a nurse, of course.  Most of the medicine in the cabinet went in the trash due to the fact that it all expired about three years ago.  No expired medicine in my house!

Thankfully, the weather is getting much cooler!  I'm so excited for fall, my favorite season every year!  Today I had lunch with my friend Bethany on the patio of Pei Wei.  Why is it that food tastes so much better outside?  After lunch we purchased sweet tea at Quik Trip and meandered on over to a coffee shop to sit outside.  Besides the fact that we were loitering and the huge shade umbrella that threatened to swallow me, we had an enjoyable time.  Something about the cooler weather makes me a much happier person :)

Tomorrow, back to work.  Three in a row this week, then my weekends start Sunday.  I'm very excited to have my own nurse schedule and finally have my very own routine!  Guess what my new schedule allows? 4 days of zumba in a row!  Every week!  No joke.  I'm super excited :)

Home Sweet Home

I am blogging from my favorite spot (my very own bed) after a twelve hour day of travel.  I must say, this weekend was thoroughly enjoyable, even though I'm exhausted!  Friday evening, Brooke drove me halfway to Bowling Green, where my dad and grandpa came and picked me up.  That night was spent eating yummy Mexican food (courtesy of my mother and aunt Joella) and catching up with the extended fam.  On Saturday I went consignment shopping with my cousins' wives and my aunt - they are great bargain shoppers!  However, since I'd spent way too much money Friday with Brooke (oops), I came away from the shopping trip with just two pairs of $2 earrings :)

Saturday afternoon, we rendezvoused with the aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents for a lunch of burgers and hotdogs at my grandparents' church (since there's more room there than at the house).  That was the day I decided I must be a good lettuce chopper, since I chopped lettuce for the lunch salad and the night before had chopped lettuce for the tacos.  So, even if my cooking never improves, my home will never lack chopped lettuce!

Tomorrow will be my relax day before three days of work.  So looking forward to it!

Elizabethtown Day

Hello from Elizabethtown, Kentucky!  I spent the night with my lovely friend Brooke Frymire, whom I hadn't seen for over a month!  We had a splendid evening touring E-town, spotting a few of the sights from the movie with the same title.  So exciting!  We then tried out this new Thai place, 2 B Thai, which had gotten very good reviews.  We had Thai iced tea, which reminded us of Kenyan chai.  It was orange and creamy and tasted like it contained a gallon of sugar.  Which it probably did.  Our dinner selection was Thai Peanut Chicken.  Yum!   The waiter  and waitress were precious Thai people (at least I think they were Thai).  It's really fun to be waited on by such enthusiastic people who always wear huge smiles!  After dinner, we had a Pinterest party and watched a fantastic movie that paused in the middle due to Internet confusion.  We finished the movie this morning while we enjoyed our morning coffee (all the way from Seattle!) and yummy eggs and potatoes, courtesy of Brooke's husband Jay.  We are now off to do a little shopping - yay!

I will meet up with my parents and grandparents this evening and will spend the rest of the weekend with aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.  Such a fun weekend! Happy Friday, folks!
